The hamlet, Shirdi, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India, was the Holy Spot in which Sath Guru SAI BABA lived in the later part of the last century and the first two decades of the present century. He lived HIS saintly life with utmost simplicity. He preached sacrifice and service to other living being as well as He lived accordingly.
By HIS personification (advent), this Great Man of GOD started to splash wave of spirituality, which is now gradually bubbling out and echoing in the minds of the blessed. He has created a powerful center of Spiritual Awakening and Divine Life in DWARAKA MAYEE and the SAMATHI MANDHIR in Shirdi.
First, HE conferred temporal benefits; thereby HE drew countless souls, which are submerged in material things, and He opened their eyes to the true meaning of Life. He infused Vairakkya and Vivekam into them and kindled their Spiritual Awakening. He made people realize the transitory nature of human life and the worthlessness of earthly things. He slowly drew the people out of deluded pursuits.
HE was looking like crazy looking FAKIR, dressed in rags, living with the (food) Biksha from the villagers. But He is in a state of Oneness with GOD. His moral life was a spotless and blameless one, which was a wonderful model of ethical perfection. Baba was a great unifying factor and a universalizing force. He taught people to overcome meaningless barriers of separation between man and man; thereby making them realize the brotherhood of all humanity.
